Does changing credit card with the same provider affect the credit score? I own a student credit card, but since I recently graduated my credit provider is changing my credit card type from student to 'normal'. credit card transfer on card with multiple balance types? I'm trying to pay down a few credit cards that I racked up during college (yeah, I know) So I have a card that I transfered a balance to at a locked in lifetime APR; I also used that card for purchases, so there are two seperate APR's on the card for each balance. So if I balance transfer a portion of the debt to another card will the purchase balance with the higher APR be transferred first?
Why do vendors ask for credit card type? When you order something online or over the phone, vendors often ask whether it is a Visa, Mastercard, Discover, AMEX, etc. This information is encoded in the card number itself and there is no need to ask for it (especially in the case of M/C vs. Visa). Why do they ask for it anyway? Is it just to double-check that you are using an accepted credit card (which they'd find out soon enough anyway)? Is it a mindless procedure or is there a solid reason for it?

I work at a small city library as the only employee (the director) and I have been given permission to apply for a credit card. I found a small business credit card that was agreed on, but when I went to apply, I was confused about which type of business to classify us as. The options are: Business Individuals C-Corporation Corporate Trust General Partnership Individual Trust Limited Liability Limited Partnership Professional Corporation Proprietorship S-Corporation It doesn't seem to me that we are any of these. Maybe a library doesn't count as a business? Help please! Which one would you consider a library?

In attempt to rebuild my credit, what type of card will I most likely be approved for? Should I apply for a credit card through my bank or should I try to get one from a department store? I've had my bank account for about 5 years. I have had a couple of overdraft issues but have taken care of them within a matter of 2 or 3 days. No overdrafts in the last year though. When repairing your credit which type of credit card is better? A secured credit card or a unsecured credit card? From my experience, I got an unsecured card which started out with a $250 credit limit and also had a fee for obtaining the card. Within a year the credit limit went up to $900 then I cancelled it when better offers came in % wise. That was a good start for me. But my bro-in-law is asking about secured credit cards? Which is better and will they both help rebuild your credit in the same way?
What is the best type of credit card? What's the best type of credit card out there? AMEX? If I had 30,000 points, where can I fly with these points, which will be turned into miles, 1 to 1 exchange?
Why are Americans so obsessed with types of credit card? Whenever I watch American TV shows they're always going on about credit cards when they go out to eat or whatever. For example: "Do you take discovery cards?" "Do you take American Express?" Why would an establishment not take one type of credit card? You either take cards or you don't in my experience (in Britain). In Britain and Europe restaurants and such really don't seem to care whether or not you have a certain type of credit card. So can someone explain why Americans seem to judge each other on their type of credit card? In the UK most people have Visa or Mastercard, and you never have to ask or get questioned when paying at a restaurant or shop.
How t ocreate Itunes account without a credit card? I don't have one and plan to pay by using the gift voucher. I can't find the "Redeem voucher" button or anything like that. Can someone give me the steps using easy words? Thanks i WILL pick a best answer.
How can I get a store credit card or gas credit card???? I have student loans on my credit report and an auto loan on my credit. But I keep getting denied for a store credit card or a gas credit card. I have never owned any Visa or Mastercard type credit cards. I have never actually owned ANY credit card. Mervyn's denied me because "LACK OF CREDIT". Dillard's denied me because of "LACK OF REVOLVING ACCOUNT INFORMATION" and "DELINQUENCY ADVERSE PUBLIC RECORD OR COLLECTION". Yes, I know my credit isn't perfect and I made a few mistakes a few years ago. But for 5 years I have not had any new problems put on my credit report. So why can't I get a store credit card????

What type of Credit Card to use in England? I dont want to bring alot of cash with me so I have two options. My visa debit card and my Discover card. My Discover Card has a larger limit and I hope that can I use it. So is Discover a well offered option when using credit cards in England?
Will closing and opening a different type of credit card hurt my credit score? I have one credit card (AMEX) that I just applied for about 2 months ago.. I applied for it since it gave a very high (5%) cash back reward once you reached a minimum ($6,500) I just realized that my earlier interpretation of the cash back rewards policy was wrong. You need to meet the $6,500 minimum annually not just for the entire length of the account. I am thinking of opening another cash back reward card (still shopping around but leaning towards Discover) and then closing my AMEX. I have a very good credit score and would like to know if this will hurt my credit score?
Will I be able to use pay-pal if I don't have a credit card or bank account linked to it? I have just signed up for pay-pal and I am unable to add a Maestro debit card to it. I do not have a credit card, nor do I have the option to change United States to add a bank account because I do not live in the United States. I don't think card types should be limited because 'small-timer' people (like myself) need to do business too. How can this possibly work for my benefits?

Which company is best and won't cause me problems later? Suggestions of bonuses and reward cards are cool too.

What credit card should I look into getting? I am looking into getting a credit card for emergencies only, though slowly building up my credit is a bonus. I am mainly looking to get a credit card because I will be studying abroad in Ireland in January and would like the security of a credit card for emergencies. What types of cards would be best for a 19-year-old college student that would be accepted in Ireland and what types of things should I look for in my search for the best credit card for me? Again, this card would only be used for emergencies. Thanks!

Hoever debit cards are useless, they donot establish any type of credit rating, i've tried.

Switch to another type of credit card? I applied a credit card and already received it weeks ago, but haven't activated it yet. I'm thinking about cancelling that one and applied for another one [from the same bank, just another type of credit card that offers better cash back]. What should I do, can I just call the customer service and tell I want to cancel the one I got, then apply for the other one I want? Would that be the best way to do? Also, would that affect my credit history for applying and cancelling a credit card? Oh, sometimes I use cash, too. I want and need a credit card so that I can build credit history. Im turning 22 btw, so yeah, I need to build credit history from now so it will be easier for me whenI need to buy a house or something. And I already have one, not from the same bank as the one Im asking here.

Is credit card debt considered an open account or a written contract? I live in the State of Georgia and am being sued over an old credit card that I defaulted on. It has been more than 4 years but less than 6 years since the date of default, so depending on whether credit card debt is considered an open account or a written contract in the State of Georgia, the Statute of Limitations may or may not apply. The Staute of Limitations is 4 years for open accounts and 6 years for written contracts. Does anyone know for certain which type applies for credit card debt in Georgia? The account is with Citibank MasterCard and was opened in the late 80's or early 90's. Thanks.
